On Saturday June 6th at 10 a.m., Dr. Kyle Chavers of Foundations Medical Center will be at 30A CrossFit to talk about the benefits of an Elimination Diet. We will then challenge you to embark on an Elimination Diet for three weeks to uncover any food allergies or sensitivities you might have that are affecting your health, wellness and performance.
Below is a guest post from Foundations Medical Center on prepping for the Elimination Diet. You are taking the first step toward dramatically transforming your life and building a foundation for optimal health. Not only will you have the opportunity to discover hidden food reactions that may be related to chronic health problems, but during this elimination you will also decrease inflammation, reduce your body's toxic burden, increase phytonutrients to heal the gut, and you will be the key player in developing your own personalized diet approach!
Major diet and lifestyle changes are not easy and in order to be successful on this elimination diet you will need a plan. This means having a goal and being prepared.
* Have a goal. What are you trying to achieve? Do you have specific medical conditions that you are dealing with such as diabetes, asthma, autoimmune disease or irritable bowel syndrome? Do you suffer with headaches, fatigue, joint pain, sinus congestion, anxiety, or constipation? Are you looking to be more energetic, sleep better, or identify emotional triggers? Do you consider yourself extremely healthy but wish to do everything you can to stay that way as you grow older? Make a goal to get to the bottom of these issues and then write it down, post it at home, and even share it with others if you wish.
* Be prepared. Read through your Elimination Diet Comprehensive Guide (attached here and we will provide a printed copy for you on Saturday). Look through it now, ahead of time, so you can prepare yourself physically, emotionally, and mentally to begin in just a few days. Plan to use the tracking journal every day to log your food intake, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors (sleeping, activity, etc.) throughout Operation Elimination. Journaling will help you stay on track with what you are eating and will also help recognize any unhealthy relationships you may have with food.
Remember--having a plan is crucial for your success and we are here to help you along the way! Print and fill out the attached Medical Symptom Questionnaire. You may use this as an objective guide to measure improvement with this program as you will fill it out before and after participating in the Elimination Diet.
